Choosing a Round Acrylic Convex Mirror
Round acrylic convex mirrors are designed to improve visibility in indoor areas where the normal line of sight is restricted. Choosing the appropriate mirror depends primarily on where it will be positioned, where it will be viewed from and the distance between the observer and the area that needs to be seen.
Choosing the Right Mirror for the Viewing Distance
The available mirror sizes are intended for different viewing distances. A mirror positioned close to the observer may not need to be as large as one being viewed across a longer internal area.
Before ordering, establish the approximate distance between the normal viewing position and the mirror location. The recommended viewing distances for each diameter are listed in the Specification section below.
Positioning a Convex Mirror
Start by identifying the blind spot or restricted view that needs to be improved. The mirror can then be positioned so that the required area is visible from the normal approach or working position.
It can be useful to check the proposed location from the observer's normal eye position before permanently fixing the mirror. Small changes in position or angle can make a significant difference to what is visible in the reflection.
Indoor Workplace Visibility
Convex mirrors can be useful in workplaces, corridors and other internal areas where walls, shelving, equipment or the building layout restrict direct visibility.
They may also assist with general observation of areas that cannot easily be seen directly from a normal working or circulation position.
Convex Mirrors and Blind Spots
A convex surface provides a wider field of view than a conventional flat mirror. This makes it suitable where the purpose of the mirror is to see a broader surrounding area rather than provide a normal close-up reflection.
Objects in a convex reflection appear smaller than they would in a flat mirror, making correct mirror size and positioning particularly important when the viewing distance increases.
Planning Before Installation
Consider the viewing position, available mounting location and required sightline before selecting the final mirror position. Where several separate blind spots exist, each viewing requirement should be considered individually rather than assuming that one mirror position will cover every area.
Construction, mounting details, mirror diameters, weights and recommended viewing distances are provided in the Specification section below.

Round Acrylic Convex Mirror FAQs
What are these convex mirrors made from?
The mirror face is made from shatter-resistant acrylic and is surrounded by protective vinyl edging. The reflective surface uses a vacuum metallised coating.
Are these acrylic convex mirrors suitable for outdoor use?
No. This range is specified for internal use only. For other applications, see our workplace and convex mirrors.
What sizes of round acrylic convex mirror are available?
The range includes 300 mm, 400 mm, 450 mm, 500 mm, 600 mm and 900 mm diameter mirrors.
What is the viewing distance of the 300mm convex mirror?
The 300 mm diameter mirror has a stated viewing distance of 5 metres and weighs 1.00 kg.
Which convex mirror has the longest viewing distance?
The 900 mm diameter mirror has the longest stated viewing distance in this range at 18 metres. It weighs 10.80 kg.
How are the convex mirrors mounted?
The mirrors are supplied with a J-arm mounting bracket that allows the mirror angle to be adjusted. The product specification states that the mirrors can be fixed to a wall or ceiling.
Do convex mirrors help reduce blind spots?
Yes. The convex mirror surface provides a wider field of view and can help make areas outside the normal direct line of sight visible.
Where can I find the technical specification for each mirror size?
Individual specification sheets are provided above for the 300 mm, 400 mm, 450 mm, 500 mm, 600 mm and 900 mm mirrors. A general interior mirror specification sheet is also available.
