Features

Coin Lockers for Leisure Centres, Pools and Public Facilities

Coin lockers are supplied with integrated coin-operated locks. They provide secure, self-managed storage without staff-issued keys, access cards or electronic control systems.

They are widely used in gyms, leisure centres, swimming pools, schools, colleges, workplaces and public venues where short-term storage needs to be simple, reliable and cost-effective.

Each locker is supplied with a fully mechanical coin lock. Users insert a refundable or retained coin to secure the locker, depending on the mechanism specified at order stage.

Coin-operated lockers are available in a wide choice of sizes, door layouts, depths and finishes. Options are available for dry changing rooms, general public areas and selected wet or humid environments.

Coin Return and Coin Retain Locker Systems

Lockers with coin locks can be supplied with either coin return or coin retain mechanisms. The correct option depends on how the facility manages access, turnover and user behaviour.

Coin return lockers refund the coin when the locker is opened. They are commonly used in member-based or repeat-use environments such as gyms, leisure centres, staff changing rooms and workplace welfare areas.

Coin retain lockers keep the coin when the locker is opened. These are often chosen for public facilities where a small usage charge helps offset costs or discourage misuse.

Both systems are mechanical and operate without electricity, batteries or software. This makes them suitable for busy sites where simple operation, reliable access and low maintenance are important.

Why Choose Lockers with Mechanical Coin Locks?

Lockers supplied with mechanical coin locks provide dependable access control without the complexity of electronic systems. They remove the need for card management, PIN resets, battery checks or software support.

Many coin locking mechanisms include a manual release feature to help clear foreign coins and reduce downtime. Adjustable coin mechanisms may also be available where future denomination changes are likely.

Frequently Asked Questions About Coin Lockers

How do coin lockers work?

Coin lockers are supplied with integrated coin locks. Users insert a coin or token to lock the door and receive the key. When the locker is opened, the coin is either returned or retained depending on the mechanism fitted.

What is the difference between coin return and coin retain lockers?

Coin return lockers refund the coin when the locker is reopened. Coin retain lockers keep the coin and are often used where the facility charges for short-term storage.

Are coin lockers suitable for wet areas?

Coin lockers can be supplied for selected wet or humid environments, including leisure centres and swimming pool changing areas. The correct locker finish, material specification and lock option should be confirmed before ordering for wet-area use.

Can coin lockers use tokens instead of coins?

Yes. Some coin lock systems can be supplied for token operation as well as coin operation. This can be useful for leisure centres, schools and managed facilities that want controlled access without cash handling.

Are replacement coin locks and keys available?

Yes. Total Locker Service supplies replacement locker locks, locker keys and related locker parts to support repair, refurbishment and long-term maintenance.
