Fireproof Safes and Fire-Resistant Cabinets
Fire Safes for Documents, Offices and Business Records
Buy fireproof safes, fire-rated document safes, fireproof chests and fire-resistant filing cabinets for important paperwork and records. Our UK range includes compact home fire safes, office fire safes and larger filing and storage cabinets. Compare the individual products below for capacities, locks and tested protection.
"Fireproof" is a commonly used search term, but protection is limited to the conditions and duration stated in a product's fire-resistance rating. Check the exact test standard and whether the rating covers paper documents, rather than assuming any safe protects all contents indefinitely.
Choose Fire-Resistant Storage by Contents
- Document fire safes: passports, certificates, contracts and paper records where a suitable paper fire rating is specified.
- Fireproof filing cabinets: organised A4 files, folders and business records, including vertical filing cabinets where offered.
- Fire-resistant security safes: documents and selected valuables where both fire protection and a suitable burglary or cash rating are required.
- Data safes: specialist protection for USB drives, disks, backup media and other temperature-sensitive contents.

How to Choose a Fire-Rated Safe
- Contents: identify whether you are protecting paper documents, cash, jewellery or digital media. A paper-rated fire safe is not automatically suitable for USB drives and hard disks.
- Fire rating: compare the published test standard, contents classification and duration. A 30, 60 or 120-minute fire safe rating only applies under its specified test conditions.
- Capacity: check usable internal dimensions, shelf arrangements and whether A4 folders or suspension files will fit. External dimensions can differ considerably from usable internal space.
- Security and access: choose an appropriate key or electronic lock, and verify a separate burglary or cash rating if theft protection is essential.
- Delivery and positioning: check weight, floor loading, door widths, stairs and unloading requirements before ordering a large fireproof safe or filing cabinet.

Fireproof Safe FAQs
Are fireproof safes completely fireproof?
No safe offers unlimited protection against fire. Fire-resistant safes are tested for stated conditions and durations. Read each product's fire rating and contents classification rather than relying on the word "fireproof" alone.
What does a 60-minute fire safe rating mean?
It indicates a defined period of protection under the applicable fire test. The test standard and protection class determine which contents the rating covers. Check the full specification before comparing models.
What is the difference between a fireproof safe and a fireproof filing cabinet?
A document fire safe generally stores a smaller collection of documents and valuables. A fire-resistant filing cabinet is organised for larger numbers of files and records. Compare capacity, fire rating, access and dimensions for your application.
Can I store USB drives in a fireproof document safe?
Only if the specification confirms protection for those media. A safe rated for paper documents may reach temperatures unsuitable for electronic storage. View our data safes for specialist media protection.
Does a fire rating also mean a safe is burglary rated?
No. Fire protection and burglary resistance are separate characteristics. If you need protection for cash or high-value items, check the model's independently stated security or cash rating as well as its fire rating.
