Choosing Dry-Area, Wet-Area or Security Cam Locks
Ojmar produces different cam-lock families for different locker conditions. The model number determines the intended environment and the key-and-cylinder arrangement.
- 603 and 617, dry-area models: 10-wafer cam locks intended for compatible lockers in predominantly dry indoor areas. The 603 is particularly suited to thinner metal doors; the 617 accommodates a greater door thickness.
- 557 and 577, standard wet-area models: chrome-plated brass cam locks with stainless steel pins for lockers exposed to humid conditions, including suitable leisure and changing-room installations.
- 357 and 377, security-key wet-area models: use a different security-key profile from the standard wet-area range while retaining the wet-area construction.

Replacing an Existing Locker Cam Lock
For an existing locker bank, begin with the marking on the old lock and the dimensions of the fitted mechanism. A replacement needs to suit the door and the way the cam engages with the locker frame.
Before ordering, establish:
- The original manufacturer and model reference, where available.
- Whether the locker is installed in a dry or regularly humid area.
- The door thickness and existing fixing-hole dimensions.
- The lock body length and the required cam-arm geometry.
- The key profile and any existing site master-key arrangements.
- Whether a matching key and any additional fittings are required.

Checking Fit and Key Compatibility
Door thickness is only one fitting consideration. Compare the head, cut-out and fixing arrangement with the existing lock, then check the rear cam profile and the locker-frame engagement. The 603 and 617 also have different head and fixing-hole dimensions, despite both being dry-area cam locks.
A standard-key, security-key or 10-wafer lock must not be assumed to use the same keys. If you have a master-keyed locker bank, confirm the relevant keying details and whether matching keys or cams are supplied with the selected replacement.
