ASSA PIN Stand-Alone Electronic Locker Locks
ASSA PIN electronic locker locks provide keyless access for compatible lockers and storage cabinets. Each lock operates independently using battery power, so no separate management software or programming device is required.
Users open the locker by entering a numerical PIN code. The lock can be configured for assigned-user lockers or shared day-use lockers, making it suitable for workplaces, schools, gyms, leisure centres and changing facilities.
Private and Public Locker Modes
The ASSA PIN supports two operating modes:
- Private mode: the locker is opened using the same pre-programmed user code. This is suitable for staff lockers and other compartments assigned to a regular user.
- Public mode: a user creates a temporary code when securing an available locker. Once the locker is opened, it is released for the next user to enter a new code.
Three Levels of Code Access
Separate code levels help authorised staff manage lockers without issuing physical keys. The available access levels are:
- User code for normal locker access
- Inspector or staff code for authorised management access
- Master code for administration and emergency access
The lock provides sound and light feedback during operation. A time-delay function is also activated following repeated incorrect code entries, helping to discourage repeated code attempts.
Door Thickness and Mounting Options
The ASSA PIN is available with two barrel lengths. The short version is intended for locker doors between 1 and 15 mm thick, while the longer version is intended for doors between 15 and 23 mm thick.
The lock can be installed vertically or horizontally. It can also be suitable for selected retrofit installations because the existing lock footprint can be reused with an additional fixing hole for the upper screw.
Always confirm the door thickness, existing fixing arrangement and required cam before ordering. Similar locker locks may use different mounting dimensions or cam positions.
Dry and Wet-Area Installations
The standard ASSA PIN lock is designed for dry indoor areas. It can be installed in an appropriate wet-area application when the specified rubber gasket is fitted.
Confirm the gasket requirement when specifying locks for swimming pools, showers, changing rooms or other damp environments. The complete locker, door and installation must also be suitable for the conditions.
Emergency Power Access
A USB connection allows temporary emergency power to be supplied when the internal batteries are depleted. This enables authorised access so that the batteries can be replaced.
The USB connection is used for emergency power rather than network management. The lock remains a stand-alone unit and does not require a permanent external power supply.
Timed Opening and Locker Management
A variable timed-opening function can be configured so that the lock automatically opens after a predetermined period. This may be useful where lockers must be released at the end of a session or after a defined period of use.
The combination of public and private modes, staff access and timed opening gives facilities managers greater control without the ongoing issue of distributing and replacing user keys.

Choosing the Correct ASSA PIN Lock
Before ordering, confirm whether the lockers require private or public operation. You should also check the locker-door thickness, mounting direction, fixing-hole arrangement, operating environment and required cam.
For replacement projects, provide photographs of the front and rear of the existing lock together with measurements of the locker door. This helps confirm whether the ASSA PIN is suitable for the existing installation.

ASSA PIN Locker Lock FAQs
What is an ASSA PIN stand-alone locker lock?
The ASSA PIN is a battery-powered electronic locker lock operated by numerical codes. Stand-alone means that the lock can be installed, programmed and used without separate management software or a programming device.
What is the difference between private and public mode?
Private mode uses the same pre-programmed codes for an assigned locker. Public mode allows a user to create a temporary code for one locker session. After the public-mode locker is opened, it becomes available for another user and code.
Which locker-door thicknesses can the ASSA PIN fit?
The ASSA PIN is available with two barrel lengths. The short version is intended for locker doors between 1 and 15 mm thick, while the long version is intended for doors between 15 and 23 mm thick. Measure the complete door thickness before ordering.
Can the ASSA PIN be mounted vertically or horizontally?
Yes. The ASSA PIN can be installed vertically or horizontally, provided the locker-door preparation, fixing arrangement and cam position are suitable.
Can the ASSA PIN replace an existing locker lock?
It can be suitable for selected retrofit installations because the existing lock footprint can be reused with an additional upper fixing hole. Compatibility still depends on the door thickness, fixing pattern, orientation and required cam.
Can the ASSA PIN locker lock be used in a wet area?
The standard lock is designed for dry indoor areas. It can be used in an appropriate wet-area installation when the specified rubber gasket is fitted. The complete locker, door and installation must also be suitable for the environment.
What happens if the ASSA PIN batteries are depleted?
The lock includes a USB connection through which temporary emergency power can be supplied. This allows authorised access to be restored so that the internal batteries can be replaced.
Does the USB connection provide network management?
No. The USB connection is used to supply emergency power when the batteries are depleted. The ASSA PIN remains a stand-alone locker lock and does not require permanent network or software management.
What happens when an incorrect code is entered repeatedly?
A time-delay function is activated following repeated incorrect code entries. The lock also provides sound and light feedback during normal operation.
Can an ASSA PIN locker open automatically after a set time?
Yes. The variable timed-opening function can be configured so that the lock opens automatically after a predetermined period. This may be useful for shared lockers that must be released after a defined session.
Is the cam supplied with the ASSA PIN locker lock?
Cam requirements depend on the locker design and selected product configuration. Confirm the required cam shape, length and operating position before ordering. For identification assistance, visit our locker lock service and identification page.
