QMP CoSHH Floor Chest – Secure Hazardous Substance Storage by Total Locker Service
The QMP CoSHH Floor Chest from Total Locker Service is a robust, compliant, and practical solution for the safe storage of hazardous substances on site. Designed in accordance with the UK’s Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) regulations, this heavy-duty floor chest provides secure containment for flammable or harmful materials in both industrial and commercial environments.
Manufactured in the UK to the highest standards, this storage chest is ideal for use in workshops, warehouses, factories, construction sites and maintenance areas. Its strong steel construction, integral leak-proof sump, and fully welded seams ensure safe containment of liquids and chemicals while protecting the surrounding area from contamination or ignition risks.
With lockable lids, hazard warning labelling, and excellent corrosion resistance, the QMP CoSHH Floor Chest is the go-to option for organisations that prioritise compliance, safety, and ease of use.
Purpose-Built for CoSHH Compliance
The QMP Floor Chest is specifically designed to help businesses and organisations meet their obligations under CoSHH legislation. These laws require that hazardous substances—such as fuels, cleaning agents, pesticides, and industrial chemicals—are stored securely to minimise risk to employees and the environment.
This floor chest offers an enclosed, tamper-resistant environment that limits exposure, prevents leaks, and enables safe segregation of dangerous goods from standard tools and equipment. By choosing a compliant storage unit, you reduce the risk of spills, fumes, unauthorised access, and potential injury or regulatory breaches.
Heavy-Duty Steel Construction
Manufactured from high-quality steel with reinforced panels and a fully welded body, the QMP CoSHH Floor Chest is built for resilience. It features a hinged lid with gas struts for safe and controlled opening, even when hands are full or gloves are in use. The welded construction ensures structural integrity even under harsh working conditions.
The chest is finished in a hard-wearing epoxy powder coat in highly visible yellow or red, clearly identifying the unit as a hazardous material container. This finish is corrosion-resistant and designed to withstand exposure to chemicals, oils, and solvents.
Integral Leak-Proof Sump
At the heart of the chest’s design is a built-in liquid-retaining sump. This sump is designed to capture and contain any leaks or drips from stored containers, helping to prevent floor contamination and reduce fire or environmental risk.
The sump complies with UK safety guidance on secondary containment, which requires that containers holding hazardous liquids be placed over a suitably sized spill area. This feature ensures that even in the event of a damaged canister, safety is maintained.
Security and Access Control
The lid is secured with a two-point locking mechanism and reinforced clasp, allowing users to apply a padlock for added security. This prevents unauthorised access while also protecting staff and visitors from accidental exposure.
Gas-assisted lid struts allow for safe one-handed access to contents and reduce the risk of injuries caused by sudden lid closure. All chests are supplied with clear hazard identification labels in compliance with CoSHH labelling standards.
Flexible Sizing and Placement
The QMP CoSHH Floor Chest is available in a range of sizes to suit different volumes and site requirements. Smaller units are ideal for mobile maintenance teams or compact workshops, while larger chests offer ample capacity for full-site chemical and fuel storage.
Its low-profile design means it can be placed under workbenches or along walls without obstructing access or workflow. Forklift skids are available on certain models for safe transportation of the unit while fully loaded.
