Features

KitLock KL1000 Electronic Combination Locker Locks

The Codelocks KitLock KL1000 range provides four-digit keypad access for compatible lockers, cupboards and cabinet doors without issuing a conventional key to each user. It is suitable for new installations and for retrofitting where the existing door, aperture and locking cam are compatible.

This product listing brings together different KL1000 generations and configurations. Select the required item code above rather than assuming that every KL1000 has the same functions, override method or finish.

Private-Use and Public-Use Locker Operation

Private use is intended for an assigned locker or cupboard. An authorised user continues to use their programmed PIN until it is changed. This suits permanent staff, student and individual storage.

Public use is intended for compartments used by different people during the day. A user enters a temporary four-digit code to secure the compartment and uses the same code to reopen it. The compartment can then be allocated to the next user.

Choosing a KL1000 Model

The original KL1000 Classic provides straightforward keypad operation. Classic+ adds management features for sites needing more than one regular user or a timed release function. KL1000 G3 adds a key-override facility and front-access battery replacement. A slam-latch configuration changes how a suitable door secures when closed. The exact functions and supplied fittings depend on the SKU.

Compare the models and installation requirements in the KL1000 technical specifications before selecting the finish and orientation.

Where KL1000 Locks Are Used

KL1000 keypad locks are commonly considered for school lockers, staff changing rooms, office cupboards, gyms and leisure-centre lockers in suitable indoor locations. For humid or wet environments, check the environmental rating of the specific model and its required sealing gasket.

Replacing an Existing Locker Cam Lock

A matching front size does not guarantee a direct replacement. Check the main spindle hole, upper fixing, door thickness, cam engagement, available clearance and whether the door needs a slam latch. If you cannot identify the existing mechanism, use our locker lock identification service.

For other access technologies, compare the KL1050 / KL1000 RFID locker lock or the KL1060 NetCode locker lock. Those products have different access methods and should not be treated as included functions of a standard KL1000 keypad lock.

KitLock KL1000 Specifications and Model Comparison

KL1000 is a family of electronic keypad locker locks from Codelocks. The available product references differ in administration functions, battery access and locking arrangement. Confirm the selected item code and its manufacturer instructions before purchasing replacement units.

KL1000 Classic, Classic+, G3 and Slam-Latch Versions

KL1000 model and configuration guide
Model or configuration Main differences Before ordering
KL1000 Classic Four-digit keypad access with private-use and public-use functions. Check the original cam, door preparation and orientation.
KL1000 with slam latch Compatible slam-latch mechanism instead of the usual cam arrangement. Check latch engagement and door thickness; the accessory is limited to 20 mm doors.
KL1000 Classic+ Supports up to 20 user codes in Private Function and configurable automatic opening in Public Function. Confirm the exact Classic+ reference and required functions.
KL1000 G3 Third-generation model with key override, front battery access and up to 20 user codes. Check G3-specific finishes, override-key supply and fitting accessories.

A slam latch is not an automatic feature of every KL1000. Confirm whether it is included in the selected product or must be purchased separately. G3 chrome-effect finishes also differ from older Classic colour names.

Fitting and Replacement Compatibility

Compatible KL1000 installations commonly use a 16 mm spindle aperture and an additional upper fixing. Always confirm the manufacturer drawing, spindle length, locker-door material and door thickness for the exact model. Check the position and movement of the cam against the locker frame.

A compatible KitLock slam-latch installation has different clearance and fitting requirements from a cam-lock replacement. The manufacturer limits the slam-latch accessory to doors no thicker than 20 mm, and requires the latch to engage correctly with the frame or strike plate.

For conventional replacements, compare the existing locker cam lock before drilling new holes. If you need assistance matching a lock, provide photographs of the front, rear, spindle and existing fixing positions through our locker lock identification service.

Manufacturer Documentation

The specification-sheet link immediately above covers the KL1000 Classic product family. Other generations have separate manufacturer documentation: Classic+ instructions, G3 instructions and slam-latch fitting instructions. Use the document that matches the item code supplied.

KitLock KL1000 Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between KL1000 Classic, Classic+ and G3?

KL1000 Classic provides keypad access with private and public operating modes. Classic+ adds support for up to 20 user codes and an automatic opening option. G3 adds key override and front battery access, alongside updated finish and management features. Check the exact product reference because not every function is available on every version.

Can the KL1000 be used for shared or assigned lockers?

Yes. Private Function is suited to a locker allocated to a regular user, who operates it with an assigned PIN. Public Function is suited to temporary users, who set a four-digit code to secure an available compartment and use that code to open it. An administrator selects the appropriate operating mode.

Does every KL1000 have an automatic unlock timer?

No. Automatic opening is a feature of specified versions, including Classic+ and G3, and should not be assumed for every Classic lock. Check the selected model's programming instructions if timed release is required.

Is the KL1000 slam-latch kit included with every lock?

No. A slam-latch arrangement is a separate configuration or accessory, depending on the product supplied. The manufacturer's slam-latch fitting instructions specify a maximum door thickness of 20 mm. Confirm the latch, strike and mounting requirements before ordering.

Can a KL1000 replace an existing keyed locker cam lock?

It can replace many compatible cam locks, but it is not a universal direct replacement. Check the spindle hole, upper fixing, door thickness, cam movement and rear clearance. Contact our locker lock identification service with photographs and dimensions if the original fitting is unknown.

How long do the KL1000 batteries last?

Codelocks states that Classic and Classic+ should provide more than 15,000 operations from two AAA batteries under documented conditions. The G3 has a different published test figure of up to 100,000 operations. Actual battery life depends on usage, batteries and environment.

What happens if a KL1000 user forgets their PIN?

Authorised site managers can use the appropriate Master or Sub-Master code procedures for the selected lock. G3 also offers a key-override facility. Keep management credentials secure and follow the manufacturer instructions for the installed generation.

Can the batteries be replaced without removing the KL1000?

Battery access varies by model. The G3 specifically provides front battery replacement. On earlier Classic versions the normal replacement process differs and may require moving the lock with the door open. Follow the instructions for the supplied version rather than assuming all KL1000 models have front battery access.

Are KL1000, KL1050 and KL1060 the same lock?

No. This KL1000 listing covers electronic keypad locker locks. The KL1050, also known as KL1000 RFID, uses compatible contactless credentials. The KL1060 NetCode model provides time-sensitive access codes. Choose the model according to the required access method.

Where can I compare other locker locking systems?
