Wire Mesh Lockers for Ventilated Visible Storage
Wire mesh lockers provide secure, visible and ventilated storage for workplaces, schools, gyms, warehouses, fire stations, maintenance areas and industrial sites. The open mesh design allows contents to be seen for security checks while improving airflow around damp clothing, PPE, tools and equipment.
This page focuses on wire mesh lockers and mesh storage lockers. For the wider workplace locker range, see our workplace lockers. For larger solid steel storage, see our large lockers.
Standard wire mesh lockers are manufactured from 25mm x 25mm x 2.5mm wire mesh. They are available in single-door and multi-door configurations where ventilation, visibility and durability are more important than privacy.
Wire Mesh Locker Options
Standard wire mesh lockers are available on a 5-day lead time for selected products. Bespoke mesh lockers, open mesh storage units and custom sizes can be manufactured for larger projects where the standard height, width or depth is not suitable.
Given sufficient volume we can change the height width and depth.
Our wire mesh lockers are available in a number of finishes dependent on the environment they are to be used in this includes powder coating.
our standard wire mesh are supplied with a hasp lock this can include 3 point locking on larger door units and there is an option to fit a coin return lock.

Wire Mesh Lockers FAQs
What are wire mesh lockers?
Wire mesh lockers are secure storage lockers made from open steel mesh panels. The mesh construction allows stored contents to remain visible while improving airflow around clothing, PPE, tools and equipment. They are commonly used in workplaces, warehouses, factories, schools, gyms and industrial facilities. For the wider locker range, view our commercial lockers.
Why choose wire mesh lockers?
Wire mesh lockers are useful where visibility, ventilation and durability are important. They allow quick visual checks of stored items, help air circulate around damp clothing or PPE, and provide robust storage for demanding working environments. For staff storage in commercial sites, see our workplace lockers.
Which industries use wire mesh lockers?
Wire mesh lockers are used in warehouses, factories, distribution centres, maintenance areas, fire stations, schools, gyms, sports facilities and industrial workplaces. They are well suited to environments where stored items need ventilation or where supervisors need to see locker contents without opening each compartment.
Are wire mesh lockers secure?
Yes. Wire mesh lockers provide strong physical storage while keeping contents visible for security checks. Standard models are commonly supplied with hasp locking for padlocks, while larger door units may include additional locking support such as three-point locking. For replacement or upgrade options, view our locker locks.
Are wire mesh lockers suitable for damp clothing and PPE?
Yes. The open mesh design helps air circulate around damp clothing, uniforms, PPE and work equipment. This makes wire mesh lockers suitable for changing rooms, maintenance areas, warehouses, fire stations and industrial sites. For drying wet clothing and PPE with heat, see our heated lockers.
Can wire mesh lockers be customised?
Yes. Wire mesh lockers can be specified in different compartment layouts, depths, finishes and locking options. Standard models are available in common single-door and multi-door configurations, while bespoke mesh lockers can be manufactured for larger projects where a special height, width, depth or compartment layout is required.
What finishes are available for wire mesh lockers?
Wire mesh lockers can be supplied with finishes such as bright zinc plate, powder coating and other protective coatings depending on the environment. The correct finish depends on whether the lockers will be used in dry indoor areas, humid locations or more demanding industrial settings.
Are wire mesh lockers suitable for outdoor use?
Wire mesh lockers are normally specified for indoor or sheltered use, although protective finishes may improve corrosion resistance in demanding environments. For fully exposed external storage, a different locker type may be more suitable. See our outdoor lockers for external locker options.
How do wire mesh lockers differ from solid metal lockers?
Wire mesh lockers provide visibility and ventilation, while solid metal lockers provide more privacy. Choose wire mesh lockers where airflow, inspection and equipment visibility matter. Choose solid steel lockers where privacy is the priority. For solid steel options, view our metal lockers.
Materials
All our materials are sourced from European suppliers and manufacturers. Our lockers are manufactured in the UK, from high quality materials so you can depend on getting a quality product.
Our lockers are available in different pitches, thickness, in mild steel, 304 or 316 stainless steel. Below is a list of some of the base materials we use.
- Spot Welded Wire Mesh
- Tube / Box Section
- Round Bar
- Flat Bar
- Angle Bar
We can also incorporate some sheet metal into our products, such as solid shelves for wire mesh lockers or solid bases for baskets.
Some of our products also include wood and plastic. Our range of changing room units incorporate both.
Ash slats are sanded and sealed with two coats of clear lacquer.
Plastic coat hooks are manufactured from engineering grade nylon and are softly curved with radiused edges.
Finishes
We can provide an almost unlimited range of finishes and colours that can enhance the durability and aesthetic appeal of any wire mesh product.
BZP (Bright Zinc Plate): our most popular finish. Plating to 8 micron depth, prevents oxidisation of the steel and results in an attractive silver-blue colour
Gold Passivate: yellow zinc is electro-plated to our standard BZP finish, to provide additional corrosion and high temperature resistance. Improves durability to mild steel products used in humid conditions, and outdoors. Results in a gold sheen to the metal surface
JS500 (Electro galvanised): can be applied as a final finish (on top of BZP and gold passivate). It is a non-toxic leach process which forms a protective layer to further improve corrosion resistance for use in more extreme environments; humidity, abrasion, corrosion and outdoors. It is water based and non-hazardous, protecting the surface from salts and other chemicals. This plating process adds an iridescent finish.
All the above coatings are subjected to British Standard Salt Test (results are shown below in hours) the minimum time for the coating to secrete zinc oxide in the form of a white powder. These figures have been obtained from BS1706:1990 electro coating of zinc and cadmium on iron and steel methods. We do not recommend any of the above finishes be subject to harsh cleaning agents or detergents as this may shorten the life of the product.
- BZP finish (Silver): 48 hours under salt test
- Gold Passivate (Gold): 72 hours under salt test
- JS500: 250 hours under salt test
Powder Coating: sprayed on to the metal surface and attaches electro-statically before being cured by heat to create a tough, hard finish. We can usually powder coat to match any corporate colour or branding scheme.
Plastic Coating: offers additional rust protection to the mild steel base material, as well as producing a softer finish. We can usually plastic coat to match any corporate colour or branding scheme.
Other Finishes: whilst the above finishes are suitable for most applications, we can also supply wire mesh products in other finishes
- PPA
- Chromed Plated
- Electro-polished
- Hot-dip galvanised
