Master Lock Fire and Water-Resistant Safes
What Is a Fire Safe?
A fire safe is designed to protect specified contents from heat and fire for a defined period under tested conditions. The Master Lock range on this page includes digital fire safes with either 60-minute or 120-minute fire-protection durations.
These safes are designed primarily for important documents and valuables in homes, offices and commercial premises. Selected models also provide tested resistance to water exposure, offering additional protection against risks associated with flooding, sprinkler systems or firefighting.
60-Minute and 120-Minute Fire Protection
The Master Lock LFW models listed on this page provide one-hour fire protection, while the LTW models provide two-hour protection. The appropriate duration depends on the intended contents and the fire classification required.
A longer fire-protection time does not automatically make a safe suitable for every type of item. Paper documents, digital media and electronic storage devices can require different internal-temperature limits, so always check the individual model specification.
Fire and Water Protection
Fire and water protection address different risks. Applicable Master Lock models are tested for resistance to water exposure as well as fire, but this should not be interpreted as permanent waterproofing or suitability for continuous submersion.
Check the specification for the selected safe to confirm its tested fire duration, water-resistance conditions and suitable contents.
Digital Fire Safes
The Master Lock fire safes listed here use digital locking for coded access. Features such as override arrangements, alarm functions, battery requirements and code management vary between models.
The LFW205TWC also provides an alarm function. Refer to its technical specification for details of the alarm operation and triggering conditions.
Fire Safes for Documents and Valuables
Typical applications include the storage of passports, certificates, property records, insurance documents, confidential paperwork, cash, jewellery and other personal or business valuables.
Do not assume that a safe intended for paper documents will provide adequate protection for USB drives, hard drives or other electronic media. The fire classification must be suitable for the material being stored.
Choosing the Correct Fire Safe
When comparing Master Lock fire safes, consider the required fire duration, intended contents, internal capacity, water protection, lock functions and the available installation space.
For larger models, also check the safe's weight and delivery route, including doorways, corridors, stairs, lifts and the supporting surface at the final location.
Fire Protection and Security Ratings
A fire rating and a burglary or cash rating are not the same thing. A safe offering one or two hours of fire protection does not automatically have a certified cash rating, valuables rating or burglary-resistance grade.
If a safe is required for insurance, regulatory or organisational purposes, confirm the required fire classification and security grade before ordering.

Master Lock Fire Safe FAQ
Are Master Lock fire safes completely fireproof?
The more accurate description is fire resistant. Each model is designed to provide protection for a defined period under specified test conditions. This range includes one-hour and two-hour models. Check the individual specification for the precise test standard and suitable contents.
Which Master Lock safes provide one-hour fire protection?
The LFW082FTC, LFW123FTC, LFW205TWC and LFW205FYC models are described as providing one hour of fire protection. Refer to the relevant technical specification for the complete test conditions.
Which Master Lock safes provide two-hour fire protection?
The LTW123GTC and LTW205GYC models are described as providing two hours of fire protection. These provide a longer stated fire-protection duration than the LFW models listed on this page.
Are Master Lock fire safes water resistant?
Water protection is available on applicable models. Tested depth, exposure duration and conditions vary between models, so the individual technical specification should be checked. Water resistance should not be assumed to mean permanent waterproof protection.
Do these Master Lock fire safes have digital locks?
Yes. All six Master Lock fire safes listed on this page use digital locking. Battery requirements, override arrangements, user-code functions and other lock features can vary between models.
Which Master Lock fire safe has an alarm?
The LFW205TWC is the alarm-equipped model in this range. See the LFW205TWC specification for information about its alarm functions and operation.
What can be stored in a Master Lock fire safe?
Typical contents include passports, identity documents, property records, insurance documents, certificates, cash, jewellery and confidential business records. The selected fire classification must be suitable for the contents being stored.
Can USB drives and digital media be stored in a Master Lock fire safe?
Only store digital media where the individual safe specification confirms that its internal-temperature classification is suitable. A fire rating intended for paper documents does not automatically provide suitable protection for USB drives, hard drives or other electronic media.
What sizes of Master Lock fire safe are available?
The range on this page includes large, extra-large and extra-extra-large models. Compare the internal dimensions and usable capacity with the largest item that needs to be stored rather than relying only on the external size.
Can a Master Lock fire safe be bolted down?
Bolt-down installation may be permitted on selected models. Use only the approved fixing points and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Drilling elsewhere in a fire-resistant safe may affect its tested fire or water performance.
Do Master Lock fire safes have a cash or insurance rating?
A fire-resistance rating does not automatically provide a certified cash rating, valuables rating or burglary-resistance grade. If the safe is required for insurance purposes, confirm the required security grade and installation method directly with the insurer before ordering.
How do I choose between a one-hour and two-hour fire safe?
Compare the required fire duration with the type of contents being stored and the relevant fire classification. Capacity, water protection, internal fittings, digital-lock functions and any insurance requirements should also be considered when choosing a model.
What should I check before ordering a large Master Lock fire safe?
Check the safe's external dimensions, weight and intended position as well as the complete delivery route, including doorways, corridors, stairs and lifts. The supporting surface must also be capable of carrying the safe and its intended contents. See our delivery and returns information and advise Total Locker Service of any access restrictions before ordering.
