Probe tablet and small-device lockers provide secure storage for tablets, phones, body cameras, scanners and other compact electronic devices, with powered and non-powered options available for different workplaces, schools and managed sites.

The range includes static and mobile formats, individual-compartment and single-door designs, USB charging options on powered units, vision-panel options on selected models, multiple lock choices and rear perforation to support heat dissipation.

This guide focuses specifically on the Probe tablet and small-device locker range. For broader advice covering charging lockers across different brands and device types, use our Charging Lockers UK guide.

Probe tablet and small-device lockers

Probe manufactures lockers for storing and charging smaller electronic devices. Depending on the selected model, units can be supplied for charging or storage only, and mobile or static formats are available.

The current range is designed around compact devices rather than full-size personal storage. Typical applications include tablets, phones, body cameras, handheld scanners and other small workplace or education devices.

Powered vs non-powered Probe lockers

Option
Best suited to
Key point

Powered locker
Sites that need devices charged while stored
Charging configuration available, including USB options on suitable units

Non-powered locker
Secure storage where charging is handled elsewhere
Simpler storage-only arrangement

Powered and non-powered units can have different external depths, so the final locker dimensions should be checked before ordering, especially where floor space or aisle clearance is tight.

USB charging options

Powered Probe tablet lockers can be supplied with USB charging options. This can be useful where devices are routinely returned to a central storage point at the end of a shift, lesson or working period.

USB charging can simplify device management for small electronics, but the charging method should still match the device fleet. Confirm connector requirements, power needs and the selected locker configuration before ordering.

Static and mobile device storage

The Probe range includes both static lockers and mobile trolley-style formats. Static units suit fixed charging and storage points, while mobile units can be useful where devices need to move between rooms, departments or work areas.

Format
Typical use

Static locker
Permanent charging or storage point in a classroom, office, store room or workplace

Mobile trolley
Shared devices that need to move between locations

Vision-panel options

Vision panels are available on selected Probe tablet-locker models. They allow staff to see whether a compartment contains a device without opening every door.

This can be useful for managed device pools, but availability depends on the model. Single-door options do not use the same vision-panel arrangement as individual-compartment designs, so the current product specification should be checked.

Locking options for Probe device lockers

Probe tablet and small-device lockers are available with a range of locking options depending on the model. Cam locks and hasp locks are common choices on the current range, with other lock formats available across Probe products.

The lock should be chosen around the operating model. Assigned device storage may suit a keyed lock, while sites using their own padlocks may prefer a hasp arrangement.

Steel construction and heat dissipation

The lockers use robust steel construction and include a rear perforated panel to assist heat dissipation on suitable models. This is particularly important where multiple powered devices are stored together.

Heat management should still be considered as part of the complete charging setup. Do not block ventilation openings or install powered units in a way that prevents the manufacturer-intended airflow path.

Device identification and numbering

Individual doors can be numbered for identification, which helps sites match devices to compartments, users or internal asset records.
