Total Locker Service invests in a new fleet of environmentally-friendly vehicles.

When our fleet of Skoda vehicles needed replacing, we started to look for alternatives; our aim was not necessary to purchase the lowest cost product but to look for best value.
So what to us was the best value? We defined it as the cost of running the vehicles over three years vetted against reliability and driver comfort. The vehicles also needed to be functional; our engineers need to be able to carry bulky items occasionally so our choice would be estate cars. Finding a practical estate car is no easy matter, most have sloping roofs which narrow the tailgate size which is not practical for a vehicle that needs to carry the occasional large item.
After an extensive search, we narrowed it down to about three manufacturers. At this point we assessed out Skoda experience, our Fabia and Octavia estates provided us with between 55 to 65 MPG, and garage time for all the vehicles due to mechanical problems amounted to under five days. We then talked to the drivers who stated that at first they were put off by the name Skoda though now they have had the vehicles for over two years rated them highly, with terms like reliable, comfortable, well equipped and after 90,000 miles still drives as when new.
After comparing the new Skoda offering with the other manufacturers along with the drivers’ opinions, the decision was clear, and we decided to go for Skoda Octavias. With the new EU 5 engines, the Fabia now has an impressive 83.1mpg and 76.4mpg for the Octavia a proven engine, size and shape suitable for our needs and drivers happy with the vehicle it was an easy decision to make.
